MTA
Subway and Bus maps are available online at new.mta.info or via cellphone New York Subway MTA Map (Apple) (Google Play)
Fare is $2.75/ride however weekly ($33) and monthly ($127) passes are available
Metro cards can be purchased at any subway station with cash or credit card
MetroCards cost $1. All cards except for the Single Ride card are refillable.
Service changes might be in effect in the evenings and weekends
Please check signs at stations or mta.info for updates and alternate routes or you can also check the MTA’s main page for live updates on delays.
Also check Google Maps with the public transportation logo to help you get around.
The subway will help get you to places that are farther from each other at a faster rate, the Bus is a wonderful transportation tool to use for nearby areas, (it may take longer to get to places with buses)
NYC Ferry
Schedules and maps can be found on www.ferry.nyc. Their mobile app is an easy and fast way to access maps and tickets. One-way fares are $2.75 and $3.75 with a bike.
The ferry is a fast, easy, and beautiful way to access parts of the city that are not always convenient and a great way to get to the beaches in the Rockaways.
Be aware in the summer the ferries to the beaches can be very busy.
Bicycles
-It’s not impossible to get around NYC but it is difficult with a bike, so be prepared with the hazard that NYC comes with, which includes pedestrians, automobiles and traffic.
-YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO RIDE BIKES ON THE SIDEWALK
-REMEMBER to always LOCK your bike outside of a store or indoors.
-DO NOT lock your bike in the FRONT GATE of RU
CitiBike
You can rent out a bike with a day pass ($12) or 3 day pass ($24) with CitBike, they are located all around at CitiBike station kiosks, however you must keep switching out the bike for a new one every 30 mins (CitiBike it not always recommended for travel because of the hassle, but great to use to sight see)
Dockless Bike Sharing
You’ll find this in a few areas around the city. They are a great resource in the warmer months.
Bike Rental NYC
This service offers bike rentals for a full day or a couple hours. Unlike CitiBike you don’t need to get a new bike every 30 minutes. Bike rentals start from $10.50 for one hour all the way to $28 for a full day. Best for sightseeing or days you know you’ll need a bike for a whole day. Rentals include: helmet, lock, and map.

Car services are the most expensive
Public transportation and bikes are the fastest choice but not always reliable choice during certain hours and days of the week.
Google Maps and City Mapper are great ways to plan out trips either by car, public transportation or walking
It is also a great place to search specific places such as restaurants, museums etc.
